“Madoldoova” is my favorite book.It is a novel written by the well known writer Matin Wickremasinghe.It is an adventure story.

This is a very interesting story.This book has been translated in to several languages.This novel is full of escapades of rural boyhood.Some of them are the Robbers,theCadju and the Veddha game.

The main character of this story is Upali Giniwella.His closest friend is Jinna.Upali is a motherless child.His mother died when he was seven years old He is looked after byhis step mother.He does not like the environment at home.So he compels to engage in various escapades with his friends.At last he runs away from home with Jinna and cultivates aland.It is called Modoldoova,an island.They work hard and become good itizens.

We can learn many good qualities of Upali through this novel.The most important lesson that is taught through this story is that anyone can make progress in his or her life through hard work.

There are many place of historical value in sri Lanka.Sigiriya is one of them.Sigiriya is a rock fortress built by one of our Sinhalese kings. It was built by king Kasyapa.It is situated in the Matale district.

 

Sigiriya is world famous for its frescoes. Hundreds of foreign tourists visit this place everyday. It has become a popular place among the local tourists too.We can also see the inscriptions on the mirror wall. They are called Graffiti. These verses have been written on this wall by the visitors in ancient times.

 

The height of the rock is about 600 feet. There are ruins of an ancient palace on the top of the rock. Also there is a moat around the rock.Sigiriya is considered the eighth wonder of the world.

Usually I get up at 5.30 o’clock in the morning. Then I read books and after brush my teeth and wash my face. I have my breakfast. After having my breakfast I wear my school uniform. After that I worship my parents take my school bag and go to school. I go to school by bus. My school begins at 8.00a.m.I go to school in time. I help my friends to clean he class room. Then I learn my lessons. There are nine subjects. During the interval I go to the play ground and play with my friends. The school closes at 2.00p.m.I come back home at about 3.00p.m.Then i have my lunch. After having my lunch I rest for some time. Then I have bath. I do my home work till 7.30p.m.Then i watch the T.V,at about 9.00p.m,and I have my dinner. I read books till 10.00p.m.At about 10.00p.m I go to bed.

My village is Borawewa.It is small village in the Kurunegala District.There are nearly two hundred families in my village.This is an agricultural area.Most of the villagers are farmers.There are several government too here.Most of them are teachers The villagers are very friendly .They know the value of self help.My village comes under the purview of the Polpithigama Pradeshiya Sabha.Villagers live happily and peacefully.
